Default What is a good rum to drink straight?
My fiance likes to have shots once in a while. What would be a good rum or whiskey (are they the same?) to surprise him with? We are not big drinkers and do not keep alcohol in our house and rarely go to the liquor store and when we do, he usually grabs crown royal. However, I find it a bit harsh and would like to know if there are any good ones that we would both like.

jack daniels, southern comfort, malibu(is more feminine) especially mixed in milk shakes

Captain Morgan's Private Stock is great for drinking straight, and goes down smooth, right out of the freezer.

Wild Turkey American Honey is also another good one for sipping straight out of the freezer. Really sweet and tasty.

rum is not a good shot.
i would mix a shot like a red snapper
1/2 oz crown royal
1/2 oz amaretto
1/2 oz cranberry juice

shake with ice and strain, makes one shot

that way you can keep the crown around. amaretto is fairly inexpensive
