Can I plant Scotch Broom in my garden?

I was looking for a large shrub to plant in my small garden in my front yard. I want something about 3 feet tall. I was at my local nursery and saw red Scotch Broom. I had never heard of it and thought it was interesting looking and out of the ordinary. i went home to do some research online and it seems like everyone wants to get rid of it. Do you think it would be a problem if I planted it?
