I've had it at many Irish restaurants with soda bread. I'm bringing a loaf to a party and want to also bring the butter to go with it. Any ideas?

This would be a waste of a good beer that you would later have apologize for which I will leave up to you. It doesn't matter how much butter you would need, unless its more then two pounds, but this is an idea. Grab your favorite Guinness and open that puppy up and dump it into a sauce pot, I can't believe I just said that, and reduce by two thirds. Once its reached something like runny syrup remove from heat and let cool. Add a tablespoon or a little bit more to a stick (1/4 pound) of soften butter and a pinch of sugar per stick, to soften the hops, then blend until smooth. Spoon out onto wax paper and form into a log. Twist ends until tight and secure. Cool until hard. Then unwrap and cut slices needed for each serving.

Beer-can-chicken is an awesome recipe, where you just shove a can of beer up a chicken's but, put it on the grill, and let it cook. This recipee really brings out a good flavor, and it won't get you drunk so the kids can eat it too!!!!!!!!
