Drinks for the most part are put together either by patrons or the bartenders themselves,,,and then trial efforts are made to see if it will be a profitable drink,,,
But mostly by being behind the bar one finds that the mixing of alcohol can be very yummy and given names either of friends or of the taste that your brain and palate are familiar with,,,,
Such as apple, grape and watermelon puckers mixed together with a shot of sour soda is called a 'Sweettart" yummy,,,,
Buttershots with a splash of cinnamon schnapps resemble the taste of 'Carrot Cake' hence the name
most drinks as mentioned above are made right at the bar... have fun with mixing of different alcohols and discovering what taste you can come up with

I'd say any drink that causes that throbbing, nagging headache right behind the eyes, that was definitely based off of an ex-girlfriend.
