| Most hard liquors (vodka, tequila, rum, whiskey, etc) are usually 40% abv (alcohol by volume). Some flavored spirits like rum and vodka might be a little less, and some better quality spirits could be a little more (ex. Booker;s bourbon, Sailor Jerry Rum). Most mass-produced beers are around the 5% abv range. Light beers are usually around 4.2%, and some darker craft beers are in the 8-12% range (highest is Sam Adams Utopias at 25%). The abv of liqueurs (amaretto, triple sec, Bailey's, etc.) varies drastically; it can be between 15-40%, even higher, but the majority of them are less than hard liquors. Wine usually runs between 8-14% abv. |
