It's a hell of a lot easier than stealing it, or drinking Listerine or some other dumb sh1t. And, the homemade stuff actually tastes good. All you need is a gallon milk jug, some sugar and/or cane syrup, a packet of yeast, some tap water, a warm dark room, and 3 days to a couple weeks. It tastes like a lot like strong beer, but slightly sweet. You can also make wine by using fruit juice instead of water, and adding less sugar. The end result should be about 13% alcohol. Baker's yeast will work fine, although brewers yeast will give a higher alcohol content. I've made wine with baker's yeast, and it's turned out fine, and although I don't have a hydrometer, it seems to have a higher alcohol content than most of those 7 or 8 dollar bottles of store bought wines.

It's actually 100% legal to buy all the ingredients you need to make beer if you're underage, even from a brewing supply store. Most kids just aren't smart enough I guess. Edit: Carrie, most ale takes only 4 weeks to brew. In fact, I just tried some of the porter I started 4 weeks ago yesterday, and it's great. Lagers take longer, as do some specific types (imperial stout, etc.). As for baker's yeast... it will make beer, but it will be crappy beer. Which underage drinkers are usually willing to deal with. But again, it's legal to buy the real stuff at a brew supply shop.

umm beer takes 12 weeks to make ... mead (honey based wine ) takes up to a few months (depending on how much your making ) , plus you have to keep it in a dry , dark area for that amount of time and depending on what your making you have shake it every day. the yeast they sell to make bread WILL NOT make BOOZE because its a different type of fermintation process. hope that gives some insight Carrie Andy S: I mostly make Mead and cordials , not beer i leave that to the other memebers in the guild.. Ale does usually take 4 weeks but depending on much your making.

They are impatient and too lazy. 1 pound sugar 2 ounces wheat germ 1 tablespoon full of lemon juice. a small amount of bakers yeast. 3/4 gallon water. Bring the water to boil, turn off the heat. add the sugar, lemon juice, and wheat germ stir. when cooled below 90 degress add the yeast. cover opening on the jug with a peice of cloth. at room temperature it will be drinkable in several days. once upon a time every house wife could make ale. but that was before the age of consumerism.

because if they do it wrong they poison themselves. most kids are lazy anyway and so many have friends who are 21. most probably haven't had the idea yet.
