Default What single ingredient is most important to the flavor of your beer?

Obviously, beer is a combination of ingredients. Which one ingredient do you feel is most essential to your favorite recipe? Is it the grains, the hops, the yeast, the water, any other flavoring?

In other words, what one ingredient would you not want to be forced to substitute in your beer? Be sure to specify your style!
